ABOUT
Donna Uchizono, alongside artists Joanna Kotze, Antonio Ramos, and Jordan Lloyd, offered a series of dance dedications exploring the body’s expansive capacity to listen. Grounded in the question “if you were to dedicate a dance to a person, who would that be?”, the dancers invited the audience to talk about someone they would like to dedicate a dance to in a mutually vulnerable exchange, anchored by the weight of trust and intimacy. Each dancer then created a dedication informed by our ongoing research and development of the body as a reservoir of felt histories. Limited participants signed up for an individual timeslot to receive their dedication. Tickets were also made available for those who simply wished to witness the process. Each hour-long time slot started with a 10-minute conversation about the dedicatee and ended with a reflection on the dance.
